Anyone who’s met Emma Nayler Photographer for even five minutes knows she’s a dog lover. So of course she was the natural choice to capture Bree and Adam’s Sunshine Coast engagement shoot featuring their three fur babies, Molly, Baxter and Goose. Since they have been forced to postpone their wedding due to Covid-19, Bree and Adam wanted to make sure they got in a beautiful family shoot with all the kids.
I had a chat with Bree to learn more about her fur babies, how she enjoyed the shoot, and how they celebrated on their would-have-been-wedding day.
Bree, your fur babies are adorable! Why did you simply have to involve them in your shoot?
Our fur babies are our family, it was a no brainer! We also wanted some professional photos with them that we can cherish for years to come, particularly as our little Molly is sick and we don’t have a lot of time left with her.
Who’s who and what are their personalities?
Molly is the eldest, she’s the dachshund with the littlest legs but the biggest personality (and appetite) and the loudest bark. She loves to snuggle. Baxter is the middle child and is an oddly calm and quiet beagle who lives for the pats and naps. And Goose is the scruffy one, he was a foster fail that we fell in love with instantly and just couldn’t let him go.
What was your experience like shooting with Emma Nayler?
I have nothing but good things to say about the lovely Emma! She made us feel so comfortable and we were blown away with how amazing and natural the photos turned out. She goes the extra mile and captured us all beautifully, we had a lot of fun!
Do you have plans for the images from this shoot?
Oh they’ve all already been enlarged and framed and I don’t think we have an empty wall in our house anymore!
Have you had to postpone your wedding due to Covid?
We did, unfortunately, but we’ve re-booked for the end of August and it’s coming around quickly! It was apparently very cold and windy up at One Tree Hill on our original wedding date, so we’re looking at it as a blessing in disguise.
How did you celebrate your would-have-been wedding day?
My fiancé and I got dressed up in our fanciest clothes, ordered in from our favourite restaurant, had a few drinks and a dance party in the lounge room. Our friends then surprised us with an “almost wedding” candle-lit dinner the following weekend. We definitely still felt the love despite having to postpone!
