Wild & Free | Beach Wedding Film

Sally Townsend — Wed, 12 Dec 2018 19:04:29 +0000

Wild & Free / A Darling Affair from Goodness Gracious on Vimeo.

In the lead up to the relaunch of boutique wedding fair, A Darling Affair 2018, the Sunshine Coast contingent got together to create the quintessential coastal bridal style shoot. It was rustic and raw with a natural colour palette to complement the beach setting at Point Arkwright.

This beach wedding film is less than two minutes long, and trust me you’d be doing yourself an extreme disservice if you didn’t take the time to give it a watch. It redefines a wedding film – it’s paced to hit all the right points and accompanied by a song that is such an unusual choice, but it’s one I’m now positively obsessed with.

First stop on your list, Hello May! Their team will be giving out free copies of their fab magazine, but you’ll need to be quick as it’s only up for grabs to the first 100 brides who arrive. Pick it up on arrival and start pouring over it for real wedding inspiration.

Everyone loves a freebie! A Darling Affair has organised a great range of prizes to be won on the day including a free engagement shoot from the super talented Adriana Watson. Adriana is known for her stunning, natural images and is a favourite photographer on the Sunshine Coast. The guys from Ice Cream Curls are also giving away a free upgrade package valued at $250 and if you haven’t tried their delicious ice cream yet, they’ll also be giving away free tastings on the day. Yum!

Meet the vendors

The wedding fair will be jam-packed full of creative, friendly wedding vendors to chat to for wedding inspiration. Grab some styling tips from Event Letters, head over to the lovely Tenille Fink and pick her brain for gorgeous photography ideas and don’t forget to stop by Heavenly Blooms and Gloriosa Florals, because no celebration is truly complete without the perfect flowers.

Paper porn

Next stop is to check out the beautiful stationery that’s on display, because we’re suckers for some gorgeous paper goods! Be sure to check out The Frankie Collective, Little Duck Calligraphy and Lindqvist Ink for awe inspiring invitations and stunning old school calligraphy. Then make a stop at Bow and Arbour for a peek at their contemporary, magazine-style wedding albums that will knock your socks off.

The Groom’s Guide to Surviving a Wedding Fair

Sally Townsend — Thu, 19 Oct 2017 04:48:00 +0000

So, your lady is ‘dragging’ you along to the A Darling Affair Sunshine Coast Wedding Fair and chances are you’re not too excited about it, am I right? News flash! At A Darling Affair our wedding fairs aren’t just for the Brides, we make sure that our Grooms are looked after and have a rad time as well.

Want to know what you can expect on the day? Here’s just a sample…

Eats

While the lady in your life is chatting with our other awesome vendors, hit pause, relax and try out some of the delicious food that we’ll have on the day. Nothing beats a food truck and Maribelles Street Foods make some seriously mouthwatering Italian grub. Our mates at Ice Cream Curls are a Sunshine Coast favourite, with ice cream that will make you want to go back for seconds. Then take a break at the Head Over Wheels caravan bar for one of their signature mocktails and some sweet tunes from their vintage record collection.

Coffee + a sit down

Head over for a cold brew coffee and meet the team at Groomology, a no BS wedding resource for the modern guy. They understood that it was time to bring a bit of focus back to the groom and have created a fantastic business providing everything they can possibly think of to help the husband-to-be plan an out of this world wedding and everything that goes with it. (Yep, even the Bucks Night…) Then take a visit over to The Beauty Case and have a seat in their Man Chair while your bride gets hair and makeup advice from their talented team of stylists.

Groom Style

Our wedding fairs have something for everyone and we guarantee that you’ll find that special vendor to suit your style. Have a chat with the talented Juddric Photography, an amazing alternative wedding photographer (and all around nice guy). Meet the awesome gang from Daisy Chain Weddings who can hook you up with candid and affordable wedding photography and film. Take a walk around and find the oh-so sassy Hayley Belle Wedding Celebrant (a super fun celebrant that is up for anything!) and go have a look at the unreal creations from Wildchild Catering. Want to capture the moment? Before you leave, be sure to head over to the In The Booth photo booth to get a snap with your bride-to-be.

Music

Want even more music? Our talented friends from The White Tree will have you rocking out to their amazing live show and don’t even get us started on the fashion parade! While your bride is oggling the outfits, you get to check out our mind-blowing set up by the teams from Equip 4 Hire, The Perfect Party Co. and Out Of The Dark. These guys are masters at event hire and know how to make an impact.

What a lineup! Head to A Darling Affair to grab your tickets and start planning your day.

Engaged: Tom and Monique in the Country

admin — Wed, 24 Sep 2014 19:00:00 +0000

Monique met Deb from Boots Photography at a friend’s wedding, and so of course booked her for her own. If you met Deb, you would do the same, trust us on that. So pre-wedding, Monique and her husband-to-be, Tom, got together with the lovely Deb for an engagement shoot, which is beautiful beyond words. Just take a look… they are so, what’s the word? Wow.

Emma Oxenbridge shares her essential five for working at home

admin — Wed, 13 Aug 2014 19:00:00 +0000

Guest blogger Emma Oxenbridge writes for our new series for work-at-homers.

Hello! I am Emma Oxenbridge and I am fully submerged in the wedding industry (both on the Sunshine Coast and beyond.) I run my own wedding planning/coordinating business called Wild Heart Weddings and I am also one third of a gorgeous curated wedding fair known as A Darling Affair. Between these two businesses I’d say I work anywhere between 20 and 40 hours per week. I also have a husband and a social life so striking a good life balance is really important for me.

Five things I can’t live without:

1) My lists!

I use electronic memo notes on my computer (I know… so old fashioned) and each Monday morning I list what I need to achieve that week. Then, day by day I try to eliminate at least 2-3 things from that list (sometimes they are quick and I get through 4-5 items, other times I can spend a whole day trying to eliminate one item from my list.)

2) Cups of tea.

They keep me sane. They also keep me warm in winter. In summer I substitute my tea for iced water and a pedestal fan (we don’t have aircon – boo!)

3) Fresh air.

I used to lock myself away in the office all day, only coming out for food, water and toilet breaks. These days I realise that a hit of fresh air and sunshine a few times a day can really help break up my time and keep my energy levels up. I usually go outside and play with my dog for 10-15 minutes a few times a day.

4) MUSIC.

I don’t care where it comes from. Favourites are Triple J and Double J. But I’ll happily just put my iTunes on shuffle or listen to Spotify. Anything.

5) An organised desk.

Organisation makes me feel at peace… I feel in control and I know exactly where to find everything. When I’m flat out and my workspace gets messy I feel a bit lost and confused and I swear it takes me longer to get jobs done. A few minutes tidying up each morning saves me bucket loads of time during the day.
