This Saturday, April 25 2015, as many brides and grooms celebrate their marital unions; the joining of families and a day all about love, we also celebrate our ANZACs and the sacrifice they made for the freedoms we enjoy today. This year it’s particularly poignant, as it is the centenary of the landing at Gallipoli. 

Sunshine Coast brides will be paying tribute this weekend by incorporating the red poppy flower, the symbol of diggers, into their bridal bouquets, centrepieces and other arrangements.

100 years we Australians have enjoyed our happy-go-lucky lifestyle on our beautiful shores and the gratitude we feel towards our Diggers is unparallelled. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your sacrifice.

After meeting online through dating site, Oasis.com. Vicki and Ed became best friends and fell in love. They faced one major challenge in their new relationship. Ed is one of Australia’s heroes, serving our beautiful country in the Royal Australian Air Force. Vicki says spending long periods of time apart can be really hard, but they work just as hard to make it work.

When planning their wedding, they chose to have a military theme, with Ed wearing his ceremonial uniform and the eight medals he earned for his service in Afghanistan. 

Vicki and Ed were married at the Noosa Boathouse restaurant on Noosa River, and Lee from Life and Love Photography was there to beautifully capture every lovely moment. 

Skype Wedding Planning

Ed was in Afghanistan when I planned the wedding so I would show/explain ideas over the phone and Skype so he still felt involved.

Boys Will Be Boys! 

Ed and the groomsmen went jet skiing 10 minuets before they were due to have photos done before the wedding! I was furious!

We involved the Bridesmaid’s and Groomsmen’s partners in our bridal party photos which we all had fun with.

Gifts for Everyone! 

Ed bought me three Pandora charms, one was wedding rings together and the other two were dogs to represent Bella and our new puppy we got on the Sunday after our wedding…(we are crazy dog people.) I bought Ed a new watch and the bridesmaids a custom made bracelet the colour of their birthstone.

Our inspiration board today features silver weddings in a very contemporary fashion. Sparkly silver tablecloths and silver wedding cakes, and even silver eyeshadow are some out-of-the-box ways to silver up your Sunshine Coast wedding.

When it comes to silver, yeah you can add a touch here and a touch there, but the thing I love about these particular silver weddings is that they clearly decided to go large. Silver is actually quite bold these days, and if applied correctly, can really make a statement. So I say, for silver, make a splash and really show your guests how your wedding sparkles brightest of all!

I recently visited Novotel Twin Waters Resort to take a peek at a wedding set up in Lily’s On The Lagoon, a beautiful restaurant right on the water. It was a gorgeous day and the 180 degree view of the sparkling lagoon with blue skies above was simply breathtaking, and perfectly complimented by the spacey room with gorgeous styling by the Novotel’s official wedding decorators, Beedazzled Events.

The lovely Donna, who is the resort’s awesome wedding coordinator, took me for a little golf buggy ride around to the ceremony location as well. Beedazzled had done an incredible job of the ceremony set up in the peaceful grassy area by the lagoon, framed by the iconic coastal Pandanus Trees. It was just so pretty!

For their reception, this couple kept things simple, but impressive nonetheless with tall vases placed on mirrors, and also brought in plenty of colour with their super sweet – not just in taste, but in looks – lolly buffet. Nothing spreads the love like lollies shared!

For transportation, the couple hooned around town in awesome hired red and yellow Mustangs, first to their ceremony at Ravenwood Park, Noosa Sound, and then on to their reception at Trio’s On The River at Noosa Marina.

When planning their wedding, Larissa and Lewis placed their highest level of importance on finding the right photographer. They wanted to be able to look back and relive their magical day for years to come with beautiful images that told their story.
