Brisbane couple Brigitte and Will were working in the same shopping centre when they caught one another’s attention across the foodcourt. When Brigitte told her best friend she thought he was cute, she cheekily slipped him Brigitte’s number! Obviously this was a ballsy, yet fateful move, as the pair were married in a gorgeous Noosa River wedding four years later. 

When planning their wedding, Brigitte’s first priority was getting the perfect dress, and she had her eye on one particular dress by Australian designer, Anna Campbell. After flying to Melbourne to get her hands on the coveted designer’s gown, all the other wedding planning fell into place. Scouring Pinterest, The Bride’s Tree (of course!) and paying close attention to the portfolios of her chosen Sunshine Coast wedding suppliers, Brigitte was swift to lock in her favourites for her October wedding in Noosa. 

The official part of the day kicked off with a ceremony at Maison La Plage, one of Noosa’s most popular outdoor wedding ceremony locations. This space makes perfect sense when natural finish wooden decor is used to blend in with the superb natural surroundings. Knowing this,Cloud Nine Weddings brought their experience to the occasion with their styling, and providing a drinks station for the comfort of the couple’s 53 guests. The natural wooden ceremony arbour was accented with a pretty pastel floral arrangement by Magnolia Grove Flowers. 

The day flew by in a whirlwind, so the moment the newlyweds sat down to devour their delicious meals at their Noosa River reception venue, Noosa Boathouse, was a big highlight as it was time to finally relax and enjoy the moment, and finally being married! 

One of our all-time fave Sunshine Coast wedding photographers, Karen Buckle, was there to capture every special moment. “The day before the wedding, my bridesmaids and myself had a failed tan, the best man had a motorbike prang and the bride broke out in a head to torso rash. Luckily, the wedding day was absolutely perfect.”   “Our celebrant, Suzanne Riley, really made our ceremony special. We knew that October was a busy month for weddings, so as soon as we found a supplier we loved, we immediately booked them and it all worked out really well. “  “Our bridal party photo shoot took place at Maison la Plage Grove, the boardwalk at Noosa Heads, the rocks on the beach leading out to the ocean and in front of Boathouse, our reception.”  “I bought Will a watch to wear on the day and Will bought me a diamond bracelet to wear. I bought my bridesmaids their own perfume for the day, plus a bridal survival kit. Will bought his groomsmen engraved cutthroat shavers and an overnight bag.”   “We have so much respect for each other and our goals, we always try to see the lighter side of things and make each other laugh every day.”

The best of both worlds – a chapel wedding in the country, followed by gorgeous Noosa beach bridal party photos at Little Cove, and a marquee reception at a private Noosa residence. I have to say, that sounds really quite a perfect wedding day! 

Emma and Jacob planned a gorgeous affair from top to bottom, with stacks of DIY details and a country feel that we are just mad for. Raving mad to be precise. Their ceremony took place at AnnaBella, The Wedding Chapel, in Ilkley after a 12-month engagement, during which family and friends pitched in to help make invitations, decorations and anything else they could manage to help keeps costs down.

Jaimee and Matt were married at Casuarina Gardens after a 14-month long engagement. 78 of their family and friends were in attendence to witness their joining as a married couple by gorgeous celebrant, Shona Anderson. Then they hopped on a boat and sailed away to their dream wedding reception at The Noosa Boathouse Floating Restaurant, which hugs the Noosa River.

Wedding stylists and decorators, Splash Events, were responsible for the pretty styling, adding a sweet and unique flair to the day. A real stand out for us in this wedding is the bride’s fashion, which includes a pair of the most gorgeous shoes we have ever seen!

This lovely couple enjoyed the fun and relaxed wedding day they dreamt of and it was all captured beautifully by Chesterton Smith Photography. 

“Our family and bridal party were amazing, and would help out whenever asked, but the most important thing was having us together to pick the dresses, such a special, memorable day!“

“Matt had his brothers and I had my sister in the bridal party. We then asked Matt’s sister and my brother to do readings.”

“Our mums signed the bridal register (but this was a secret until our celebrant asked them to come up). And another little special touch to the ceremony was that we acknowledged our parents and grandparents and their many happy years together as married couples which came to a total of 268 years.“

“We had photos with family and friends at Casuarina Gardens. We then walked down through the pathways into the beautiful trees for bridal party photos before going to Little Cove for our beach shots.“

“Matt’s parents paid for the bar tab and my parents were very kind enough to give us money which covered the Reception and the Event“

” We wanted our wedding to be fun and relaxed and we just wanted to have a great time dancing the night away, so the music was very important to us and we were lucky enough to have our friends play at the ceremony and reception which was a big hit with all of our guests.”

“We wanted our wedding to reflect who we were as a couple and although it didn’t have a particular theme, it was simple, classic with attention to detail and everyone would say very ‘Matt and Jaimee’ “

DIY: The name places, which took me a very very long time. The ultimate beach wedding destination is of course Queensland’s famous Noosa, so Sarah and Callan chose a wedding venue right in the heart of Noosa, being Outrigger Little Hastings Street. They were married by the pool, and barely escaped getting wet as if they jumped right in! A storm was brewing as they Sarah walked down the aisle, and crept closer as they said their vows, and closer still as they signed their registry. Upon the announcement they were married, they squeezed in a quick couple of congratulatory hugs and kisses, a group photo, before being forced to make a mad dash undercover. 

The rain had no chance of dampening their day, so a backup plan was devised and instead of having their planned beach photos with amazing Sunshine Coast wedding photographer, Images by Lou O’Brien, they were able to make use of the resort’s gorgeous penthouse. However, never fear, the weather ended up clearing, allowing them to venture back to the beach, where their hearts belong, and take a few snaps before their sit-down reception. 

This beach-themed wedding includes shell decorations in a pretty and classy way. 

“One special moment for me was making a note of listening to the music that was playing when I walked down the aisle, it’s a memory I will never forget.”

“I did up a run sheet for the day and that was fantastic. Made life so much easier – I gave a copy to both parents, photographer, the wedding coordinator at the outrigger, and celebrant, so everyone knew when and what was happening.”

“For the ceremony we did a ring ceremony, where the rings get passed around to all the guests throughout the ceremony and they are to give us a wish or prayer.”

“I had my sister as my Maid of Honour and Callan has his best friend as his Groomsman.”

“We decided to ask both our Mums to sign as our witnesses for the day as we wanted to include them somehow.”

Biggest Splurge: Reception venue and honeymoon

Best money savers: Biggest save was my dress as I already had it. I spent $120 altering it a tiny bit, so it was a little different. And also hair and makeup – I am lucky enough that I did my own and my sister’s and mums. Probably also flowers – after doing the hair for a styled shoot for the One Dress, Three Ways article in The Bride’s Tree magazine Volume One at Anna Bella Chapel, I loved the idea of baby’s breath bouquet, so that is all I had, which saved money as it was not too expensive and I think it was beautiful!

Bridal gown: Bought in 2006 as my school formal dress from Bardot!

Accessories: Bracelets – Collette and earrings – Diva. Together came to under $35

Shoes: Youth Culture at local boutique in Sunshine Plaza – $90. I wore these to our engagement party shoes as well.

Bridesmaid dresses: Sunny Girl at Sunshine Plaza

Bridesmaid’s accessories: Earrings, bracelets and handbag from Collette – under $50

Groom’s and groomsman’s suits and shoes: Suit – $150 ex hire suit from John’s Formalwear in Maroochydore

DIY: I made the invitations, I bought a bird’s cage for the wishing well and had to paint it white, I made our wishing well sign, I put together all of our bombonieres. I bought all the tables decorations and myself and friend set it all up the day before the wedding.

Music: We did up a fairly big playlist for our DJ. The majority was probably songs we love from Triple J but also some new music that we could dance to. Some oldies but goodies too. I think we had a great mix of music as there was lots of dancing happening.

Food: The food was beautiful, we had canapes, entree, main and then cake for dessert. Entrees were prawns and lamb, mains were chicken and steak. It was all delish!

“The plan was to go down to the beach at Noosa for our photos, but because there was a huge storm right after the ceremony finished, we ended up going to one of the penthouses at the resort to get photos done. When the rain had passed we ended up going down to the beach as well, which was great. “

“We are best friends and we talk to each other about everything.”

“Our wedding planning priorities were finding the right place for the ceremony and reception.and finding songs which we loved and wanted for our special day.”

“We both love the beach so it kind of just happened that we had shells and a beachy theme for the day.”
