The “Proposal”

We were at a close friends wedding (our MC and her husband) and there was so much love in the air that day that we caught some of it and decided it was time for us to get married. That was end of August so just over 4 months later we had it all done and dusted!

How We Met

We first meet through Army Reserves. We were both in the same unit as finance officers. We were friends first for a few years, started a business together and from there our friendship developed to bring us to here!

Why I Married This Wonderful Person

He laughs at my jokes! He is my best friend. We have created a wonderful life together and I couldn’t imagine living my life without him.

Wedding Planning Priorities

This was a second wedding for both of us so this time around simply planned the wedding we wanted. We kept it small to only have those really close to us share our special day. We also wanted a destination wedding where everyone could stay at the same venue and basically be spoilt rotten for a few days.

Biggest Challenge

When Brisbane announced they were heading into lockdown the day before, that causes a stressful few hours. We were so lucky that we weren’t in a high risk area and Spicers were extremely understanding. We had to ask a few guests not to come but I’m so grateful that we could continue on with having the wedding of our dreams.

The Location

Spicers were faultless. They delivered on every expectation and more. No request was too big and they were so accommodating to our every need. They even let me bring my cat along to stay! When we got back into our room at the end of the night they had moved the flowers and candles upstairs and run the spa, it was so romantic and beautiful. Made my heart melt!

Standout Vendor

Sandi from Willow Bud had some unfortunate news with the Hinterland Summer Showcase (now rescheduled to February 27-28) being cancelled so she had ample flowers and she very kindly flower-bombed our wedding which was so generous. We also had to move our ceremony inside because of the rain and what she did with the flowers made the ceremony look so magical and beautiful. I was 200% happy with the outcome.

Wedding Secrets

Six months before their wedding date, Tori and Sharn had the worst happen. Their wedding venue cancelled their wedding! It’s every couple’s worst nightmare, but in this particular instance, things worked out for the best.

Tori and Sharn were reminded of their dream venue they visited before becoming engaged – Spicers Clovelly Estate in Montville. By a stroke of luck the date was available! They booked their dream wedding venue there and then, and had the best day of their lives.

Tori says the best decision they made when planning their wedding was to have a wedding film of their day made, as the memories captured make them feel like they’re reliving their day over and over again. Keep scrolling to watch their stunning wedding highlights film by Graeme Passmore Photography & Films for yourself!

Tori has shared her dream Montville garden wedding secrets with us below…

The Proposal

It was our nine-year anniversary, Sharn had planned a weekend at the Sofitel Noosa. We had an amazing day relaxing by the pool, drinking cocktails. Sharn had planned a picnic to be set up in our suite, with champagne and cheese! Then he asked! It was intimate and perfect.

Standout Vendors

Graeme Passmore, our photographer, he was amazing! Made us feel really comfortable the whole day. And our musician, Michael Eotvos, he is so incredibly talented, everyone commented on how great he was; such a beautiful voice!

Standing at the outlook, watching the sunset with my new husband. It was during our photos, but we didn’t even know our photos were being taken at the time. It was an incredible moment for just us to take it all in together.

Katie and her beau, Jack, are Sunshine Coast locals, residing in Bli Bli. Having all the local knowledge, bride Katie’s very first thought upon becoming engaged was her dream venue – Spicers Clovelly Estate. In earlier years, Katie had spent many hours at the estate as a babysitter during other people’s weddings and events. The dream of having her own wedding at the Montville wedding venue came true when she said “I Do” to Jack.

Today, Katie shares her wedding planning journey with us, and her stunning images by wedding photographer,Angela Brushe…

The Proposal

For my 26th Birthday we all went to dinner at Spirit house in Yandina. His family had flown over from the UK and my brother up from Sydney. Everybody went around the table and made a speech (which is something we do each birthday). When it came to Jacks turn he got down on one knee and asked me to Marry him.

Biggest Wedding-planning Challenge

The week before the wedding I just felt really overwhelmed and anxious which wasn’t how I was expecting to feel. I think I struggled with that. But the morning of the wedding I felt calm and so excited to marry my best friend.

Most Emotional Moment

The vows were pretty emotional but my wedding speech was probably the hardest to get through. I was just so grateful to my parents for everything they had done to get me to this big day. Thanking them in my speech definitely brought tears to me eyes

Choosing the Venue

I used to babysit a bit at Spicers Clovelly Estate and just fell in love with the venue. I knew it was exactly where I wanted to get married and thankfully my partner loved it too.

The venue was beautiful and the staff were amazing. My wedding coordinator, Sarah, was so easy to communicate with and she created such an easy and stress-free day for myself and guests. Also the staff, Gavin and Elysse, were so kind and attentive throughout the night. They really went the extra mile.

I cannot fault Spicers Clovelly Estate at all, I am so happy with my choice! Spicers really created the most beautiful day for us.

Wedding Secrets

Biggest splurge: The venue. I just fell in love with Spicers. It was what I’d always envisioned for our big day.

Best money-saver: Downloading a budget app and not allowing us to go over! Also my dress was reduced from $1500 to $790 which I was so happy about.

Sarah and Daniel were hectically busy working and studying during their wedding planning process, but they were cool, calm and collected about their big day. Sarah says their chosen wedding vendors were so excellent, they were able to leave everything in their capable hands after their initial meetings when they presented their vendors with their vision for their luxury Sunshine Coast wedding.

Bride, Sarah, tells us all about her dream come true wedding day, and how she and Daniel pulled it together.

The Proposal

“Daniel proposed one night as we were getting ready for bed by hiding the ring box under my pillow. It took me ages to work out why he kept asking me if I was comfortable and if I needed to move my pillow!”

The Venue

“We love the Sunshine Coast, it’s been our home for the past 4 years. We fell in love with Spicers Clovelly Estate  during our first visit there. The location, the scenery, the food, the accomodation, being able to have our ceremony and reception all at the same venue – it was perfect.”

Advice for Future Brides

“I was told repeatedly to take in every moment of your wedding day because it goes so quickly. It was great advice. Take time to practice mindfulness, take a mental picture, enjoy the moment – because before you know it the last song of the night has played and its all done!”

Images by Jennifer Oliphant Photographer

Most Emotional Moments

“It was the ceremony. We knew it was going to be emotional, but our celebrant Carly delivered the most beautiful ceremony that resulted in lots of tears – from both us and our guests.

“Seeing Daniel for the first time as I walked down the aisle. That was the moment that it really hit me “wow, I’m marrying the love of my life!” I was trying to hold back tears but I was also smiling so much at the same time.”

The Music

“I walked down the aisle to Heart’s on Fire by Passenger, reception entrance was to Love On Top by Beyonce, and our first dance was Come Away With Me by Norah Jones.”

The prize was absolutely awesome with not only a couple’s portrait shoot at an amazing Sunshine Coast location, but also styling for the shoot to notch up the perfection of it. To ensure every little detail was accounted for, the prize also included hair and makeup by Sunshine Coast hair and makeup artist, Sally Townsend Makeup Artistry to make for a final result that is beyond amazing.

Philicia entered her and her now husband, Ryan, and they were our lucky winners. So as newlyweds, they were off up the range to Montville wedding venue, Spicers Clovelly Estate, for a portrait shoot to celebrate their love and commemorate this special time in their lives.

Anyway, enough from us. Time to enjoy the pretty. After all, we think the images really speak for themselves…

The post Venue Review: Spicers Clovelly Estate appeared first on The Bride's Tree.

It’s no wonder Amber and Conrad chose this beautiful venue to have their wedding ceremony and reception. Amidst the pretty gardens, stunning sunset-toned floral arrangements by iBlossom were the order of the day, only eclipsed by the beauty of the bride, as it should be!

To ensure their day was a completely relaxed occassion, organised to perfection, Amber and Conrad were sure to hire brilliant Sunshine Coast wedding professionals. One such asset to their day was Bill Scurry Marriage Celebrant , who guided them through the nuptials process with the ease only an experiences professional can.

Take a peek at Amber and Conrad’s beautiful photos by Katja Anton Photography.

“We highly recommend iBlossom. Jill understood exactly what we were looking for, and she went above and beyond our wildest expectations. The flowers she provided for our wedding were absolutely beautiful!  We both tip our hats to Jill and are so very appreciative of her professional skills and effort.”

“The most important things to us were engaging quality, professional suppliers, and being organised. We also booked our suppliers as early as we could.“

Beautiful makeup artistry by KJ Artistry

“We just wanted our day to be intimate, romantic, and personal, with rich vibrant colours and lots of flowers and music.”

“Spicers Clovelly Estate was our dream venue for our wedding. The management and staff were very professional and made our day perfect.  We searched long and hard to find just the right venue and looking back, we know we made the right choice.”

“Bill Scurry Marriage Celebrant ) was fabulous and a real pro. We look back and agree with Bill that not conducting a ‘dress rehearsal’ really makes the day individual, and spontaneous.”

“Just having our closest friends and family at our wedding was the most important thing.  I had my two closest friends as ‘maids of honour’ and Conrad had both his brothers as his ‘best men’.”

“Katja (Katja Anton Photography) was simply fantastic and she really delivered just the kind of shots we were looking for.”

“Conrad and I ducked away with Katja, our photographer, to a few places around Maleny, including the much famed ‘tree’ and paddock overlooking the Glass House Mountains, which made for some simply awesome shots.”

“We are binded together by our acceptance of each other for who we are, along with all our various differences, peculiarities and personality traits.”

“We bought special little boxes and ribbon to match our colour theme.”

Wedding Secrets Revealed

Biggest Splurge: Our biggest spurge was the venue, but fell in love with the elegance and beauty of the Estate as soon as we drove up the drive for the first time.  It is obviously a magnificent venue with very professional staff and as for the dining, well, lets just say that many of our guests said it was the best food they had ever eaten!

Best Bargain: We bought some large wooden picture frames from our local charity store for a few dollars each. Conrad painted them to be used as chalkboard signs for the garden games. We left our own compact digital camera on a table at the reception. We tied a little note to it, inviting guests to take photos for us. We are so glad we did this; as the photos from this camera really captured some great moments later on in the night, after our photographer had left.

DIY: We made the bonbonniere ourselves. We filled little white boxes with our favourite chocolates, and then tied them up with big bows of beautiful satin ribbon. They looked spectacular placed out on the long dining table and Katja took some great photos which really showed them off.
