One of the big trends that has been taking weddings, events and homewares by storm is the humble Mason jar. First made in 1858 in Philadelphia America by tinsmith John Landis Mason, the Mason jar has become an iconic jar that is sought after by many collectors.

So you can imagine my pure delight when I saw that one of my favourite local stores, Willow & Bird, located right here in our home town of the Sunshine Coast, was selling authentic mason jars! Priced from $29.99, these jars would make a perfect addition to the vintage wedding. 

Placed on tables as centrepieces, you could bring the guestbook to your guests, so they can leave a message for you without leaving their seats. Get guests writing on lovely papers scroll them up and seal the lid. Alternatively the Mason jar makes for gorgeous vases for your blooms. 

They have a few in stock but I am sure they won't be around forever!

If you have been shopping lately you would have noticed one of the big trends hitting stores is wooden accessories. Wooden watches, sunnies and earrings to name a few are taking home wares and fashion stores by storm. 

So why not carry this trend over into your wedding day! 

These beautiful wooden postcards and gift tags would make for one very cool wedding guest book and place seating!

Hand stamp or write guests names with a short message or quote onto the back of the tags and tie them around napkins to help people finding their place at your reception. 

Set up a guest book table and with the post cards and get your guests to write their well wishes to the new Mr and Mrs on them and post them into a little letter box or bird cage for a point of difference. 

After your wedding you could place these in a wooden box or bowl and have them out on your coffee table to look at from time to time.

Glass floats have been around for a long time! They were once used by fishermen to keep their fishing nets or lines afloat. Although they aren't used anymore they have become very popular collectors' items for beach-style decorators or the avid vintage collector. 

When I came across these little beauties in Willow & Bird Cotton Tree, I instantly pictured them as favours or decorative pieces for a nautical beach wedding. 

Placed on a dinner plate with a place setting tied on would have them double as your place seating arrangement. Alternatively, tie thank you notes onto them and place them collectively in a large white bowl near your guest book area to keep the favours off the table. On my travels I recently came across these gorgeous blackboard hearts from Maleny homewares haven, Giddy & Grace. Priced from only $2.50 each these would make perfect favours that could also double up as your place seating as well.

Placed on a contemporary white plate with a napkin they could fit a more modern setting, or to channel that old school vintage charm you could position them with your nanna's vintage crockery. 

I love the jute twine they come with, but if the twine doesn't quite gel with what you are after, just swap it for one that coordinates more with your colour or theme for your day.

How beautiful are these wedding favours from gorgeous store Giddy & Grace at Maleny? As soon as I saw these I knew they would make perfect wedding favours! Priced at $2.50 these beauties are ideal for a variety of wedding styles. Vintage, beach, industrial, french or even a modern wedding; these favours would work a treat. 

Now the hearts come blank without engraving, but while I was standing there with this cutie in my hot little hand, being consumed by all the prettiness Giddy & Grace was surrounding me with; I had what I call a 'Hayley' moment (typically this is when my eyes glaze over and I start talking really fast because I have had a new idea). What was the idea you ask? Well, here it is… how unique these would become if they were engraved with words!

So I headed off to Mr Minit [near Supre at the Sunshine Plaza] to give my idea a test run. And thankfully my test run was successful! Mr Minit estimates that they can engrave these for $2.00 – $5.50 each depending on the word size, fonts and how many you purchase. You could choose to have them done with yours and your partner's initials, or for a more practical use, engrave them with your guests' names to double as place seating.
