Lauren and Eddie were almost high school sweethearts… except they met just after school, and were friends for four years before dating. Their relationship deepened over the next eight years before Eddie proposed. 14 months of remote planning from the UK lead to their dream wedding in Noosa. 

It was a destination wedding, not only for the happy couple, but for 38 of their 120 guests, who travelled from London, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, and other parts of the world to be there. 

After a beachside ceremony at Hidden Grove, the couple headed for the hills of the Noosa hinterland with their photographer and videographer in tow to capture some incredible photos. The white sands and arid scenery made for some absolutely stunning shots, as you will see in these taken by Chloe from White Images. 

 “We had a bridal party of 10. My maid of honour was my sister and Ed’s best man, his best friend. We were exceptionally lucky to have three of Ed’s groomsmen travel from Amsterdam, Los Angles and London to be there.”  “We wanted all our family members to be involved somehow, whether it was a reading or being a witness. Our brother-in-law was the MC and sang our first dance song, which was really special. He also organised a vest for Ed and scarf for me with herons birds on it for us to wear.”

“Ed and I were living in London at the time (while planning our wedding), so our priority was making it as easy as possible for ourselves, which ruled out a DIY style wedding. We also had a number of friends and family travelling from London and all over the world so ensuring our guests had a good time was front of mind. Instagram was really helpful as I followed The Bride’s Tree, Hello May Magazine and KWBridal to get ideas. I also got suppliers from The Bride’s Tree blog.”

Biggest splurge: We hired the M.V. Catalina Noosa boat for the guests between the ceremony and reception everyone loved it!

Best money-saver: A family friend of ours, Stems by di (Di Bayne), made our stunning bouquets.

The sheer happiness this couple had in marrying one another is beautifully evident. The groom, Jared, will absolutely melt your heart as he is filled with unbridled emotion during their ceremony. Bride, Natalie, is clearly smitten with her new husband as they embrace after their vows at their Maroochydore waterfront wedding.

The whole bridal party seem like a whole lot of fun as they frolic on the beach for their photo session with Sunshine Coast photographer, Emma Nayler Photographer. After their beach fun, they all went back to the reception venue for canapés and mingling with the guests, then right on twilight the couple and Emma managed to sneak back down to the jetty for a few last shots. This meant they were able to sneak in extra time with their guests with compromising on getting  those highly coveted perfect dreamy last light of the day photos.

“Ash and I gave each other a hand-delivered letter to each other, via the groomsmen, on the morning of the wedding, it was so romantic and personal and we will have those letters forever.” “Ash gave the groomsmen handmade cufflinks as gifts and I gave the bridesmaids small gift boxes including head pieces, earrings and casual dresses to wear whilst we got ready for the wedding.” “My younger sister, Kaitlyn, sang Adele’s version of ‘Make you feel my love’ during the reception and it was breathtaking! ” “My sisters were my bridesmaids and they helped me with almost every decision, from my wedding dress right down to the seating plan.”

Biggest splurge: Probably the styling! I kept wanting to add layers of embellishments when I would see options from the stylist! We also had a bit of a splurge on our bar tab as we both wanted to ensure that we provided premium wine and beer.

Best bargain: The flower bouquets. My original florist unfortunately closed down about six weeks before the wedding and I managed to find a floral stylist from the Gold Coast.

Lovely Sunshine Coast bride, Megan, planned a beautiful vintage beach-themed wedding on a budget. With a little help from family and friends, her DIY efforts started with the invitations, continued with putting together bombonieres and even went so far as arranging the flowers and hair styling.

The pair were married at Kawana beach under a bamboo canopy the bride and her father constructed together, and then held their modestly catered reception in their church hall. As a very sweet touch, the couple surprised the bride’s father, a long-time Kombi van enthusiast with a super rad mode of transportation from Deluxe Kombie Service that really went with the vintage beach theme, too!

Accessories: I had a brooch from each of my grandmother’s, one on my dress and the other on my bouquet.  My veil was my mum’s and with the beautiful embroidery on the edging it was stunning!

Shoes: Gold glitter ballet flats from Payless Shoes

Bridesmaid dresses: Cream lace dress from Cotton On

Bridesmaids’ accessories: Belt made from ribbon I added myself.  Flower girls crown made by myself.

Groom and Groomsmen’s suit and shoes: They all already owned black pants and white shirt and Matt’s grandmother made the vests.

Their wedding day included a frantic search for some missing rings they are still unsure whether or not should be blamed on the groom or the best man, but to them this just added to the character of their perfect Sunshine Coast wedding day! 

After their ceremony, they and their guests walked the bridge over to Chambers Island, Maroochydore, amidst romantic paper lanterns to be greeted on the other side by the welcome sounds of a lone acoustic guitar. Their wedding reception was held at the Maroochydoore Sail Club on Chambers Island.

Lara and Tim say hiring Emma from Wild Heart Weddings to help plan their wedding, as well as coordinate the whole event on the day, was the best move they ever made. Knowing they were on a very tight timeframe, it really meant a lot to have cool, calm and collected Emma encouraging them every step of the way, and never once saying it’s not enough time. Instead, she always maintained her composure, giving the bride and groom the feeling of ease they so wanted with their wedding planning. They even saved money by having Emma scope out all the bargains for them. 

Not wanting a traditional wedding, but to simply have a fun and easy day full of great food and dancing, they chose waterfront restaurant, Montego’s On The Bay on Kawana Island. With its own sweet little beach on the bay, the white sandy secluded spot was perfect for an intimate ceremony, and plenty of pretty spots for photos, there was no running around to get to the reception! 

“I hired a wedding planner and coordinator, as I wanted my family and friends to be able to relax and enjoy the day as much as possible.”

“It was overcast and windy, but the rain held off till later in the night, so we couldn’t ask for more than that.”

“We wanted our son involved in the ceremony.  He carried the rings down the aisle in a little sand bucket.  It was really sweet.”
