If you thought boho was going anywhere, you’d be surely wrong. Really… how very dare you! The very thought! Bohemian brides and grooms will be gracing our gorgeous wedding industry for some time to come, so strap yourself in for some seriously stunning boho inspo of the bouquet variety.

What makes a bouquet a boho bouquet?

First of all, say that five times fast and we’ll talk. Okay, now that’s out of the way, the second thing is that a boho bouquet should be a little bit eclectic. Combining a variety of elements works – flowers both seasonal and dried, as well as luxe imported blooms. To add texture and abundance, a boho bouquet might include the use of berries or seed pods and ample foliage. 

Contrary to popular belief, the boho bouquet does not necessarily have to include native flowers, but if you were to include natives, the stand-out bloom would have to be the King Protea. 

Bohemian style consistency

If you’re having a boho bouquet, chances are you’re hankering for a whole bohemian wedding style. It’s the consitution, it’s Mabo, It’s the vibe… that’s it, it’s the vibe – bring the whole look together by finishing off the bouquet with silk ribbons or even some macrame. I rest my case. 

Boho beauty + fashion

From your dress to your hair and makeup, your entire look from head to toe should play a part in bringing a bohemian vibe to your wedding fashion and beauty. Your hair could be wild and free with tousled waves, or even pull in the boho feels with some loose, creative braids.

Layered Textures 

Abundant with textiles in various textures and styles from richly coloured Moroccan rugs to furs and skins, and natural fibres, the styling of the tipi starts from the carefully curated flooring. Throughout the styling the use of embroidered cushions and macrame pieces adds more surprising elements that work together to create a boho chic vibe. 

Luxe Tipi Decor 

The tipi is laden with decor pieces thoughtfully arranged to create spaces within the space for sitting, eating, and being merry. An eclectic mix of rattan chairs, sofas and tables fill the Tipi Luxe tipi, strung with festoon lights and filled with dried floral designs in keeping with the colour palette.

It’s an unexpected boho colour palette with rusty tones and yellow accents in the striking floral arrangements by Heavenly Blooms. The bouquet is a gathering of organic foliage, dotted with sweet mustard Billy Buttons and fastened with a deep gold ribbon.

For the reception styling by Sacred Wilde, warm brown tones and natural shades blend with the scenery. Black and white bring in pops of drama to the low-lying table setting. A diversity of textures are scattered throughout the styling with cow hide, rattan, wood, macramé and a peek of Turkish rug patterning.

Planning a wedding with two small children is no easy feat, and Immy admits it was a huge challenge for her and her now husband, Ben. However the pair not only managed to pull it off, they did so in style. Their boho beach style wedding with plenty of genuine vintage elements was a wonderful family celebration.

Guests embarked on international travel to be with the local Sunshine Coast couple for their big day in Noosa. Their intimate ceremony witnessed by 60 of their nearest and dearest was held at Hidden Grove on Noosa Main Beach, while their reception under a giant tipi had them dancing the night away with sand between their toes at Novotel Twin Waters Resort.

The Proposal

Ben proposed at Easter, I suppose you could say the Easter bunny brought a different type of carat!

Wedding Style

“We wanted to create a relaxed atmosphere, making sure everyone had fun and enjoyed themselves. A truly memorable occasion. Most importantly enjoying ourselves too and not stressing the small things.”

Extra Special Moments 

“Probably one of the most memorable things on the day was when I  surprised Ben with a special white dove release. When Ben first saw the doves he thought they were at the wrong wedding!

Having my grandfather pass away earlier in the year was quite emotional, in tribute I had a photo and sign set up “if heaven weren’t so far away, we know you would be here today”.”

Wedding Music

“Our 3 year old daughter suggested we use her favourite song to walk down the aisle to. Of course, how could we say no! Disney princess Rapunzel’s song ‘I See the Light’.”

Best money-saver: Flowers. We went to Brisbane flower market at 4am and luckily have a friend with a cold room to store them.

Biggest splurge: The AMAZING beach house we stayed in with the wedding party for the wedding week. 

Best bargain: The venue was really inexpensive and you have uninterrupted ocean views, and my dress was only $750. I bought it online and it was absolutely perfect.

This couple are doing life right. You can just tell. They call theirs a “once-in-a-lifetime” love, and say they’ve got that communication thing down, maintaining a long-distance relationship to perfection.

Elleah and Brent are a beautiful local couple from Peregian Beach, who were recently married at Yandina Station here on the Sunshine Coast. Their wedding was as pretty as it was heartfelt, and their 84 guests enjoyed a relaxed afternoon ceremony under the picturesque fig tree, an icon of the cattle station-come-wedding venue.

Sunshine Coast wedding florist Willow Bud created some of the prettiest bouquets and floral arrangements we’ve seen, in keeping with Elleah’s bohemian bridal style, featuring a magnificent King Proteus, soft roses, pops of lavender blooms and spilling folliage for that undone vibe. Tipping that gorgeous boho bridal style right over the edge is the fresh flower crown.

 The lads started their wedding day prep with a quick trip to the barber. Cuts and blow dries all round!    “My girlfriends and I decided to go out for some drinks to celebrate my recent promotion when my friends knew the group of mates Brent was with. We then all got introduced and Brent and I hit off straight away, the rest is history!”   The bride and her maids were airbrushed by incredible Sunshine Coast makeup artist,Natalie Hunter Makeup Artist    “Brent’s sisters and Mum organised a surprise high tea at Flaxton Gardens the day before our Wedding with all of my girlfriends. It was really special as they were still involved in our day.”    “Walking down the aisle to see Brent standing at the end crying was such an emotional yet happy time! Bride, Dythea, is one sentimental lass. She has had her mum’s dried wedding flower crown hanging in her bedroom for years. So of course when it came to her own wedding, a flower crown was an absolute must. Knowing of this sweet sentimentality, Sunshine Coast wedding florist, Cat, from Woods & Bloom, made sure she utilised flowers that would dry and keep well, so Dythea’s crown could join her mum’s.

Dythea and her now husband, Travis, planned for their chapel wedding to have a relaxed boho style and lots of family elements to play to the bride’s sentimentality. Dythea even wore her mother’s wedding dress, which she had tailored to fit.

In keeping with Dythea’s boho bridal feel, more family elements were incorporated into the floral designs. From her mother’s garden came the  ceremony arch and foliage. 

Dythea’s flower crown was made using blooms that would dry beautifully, so hers could be displayed beside her mother’s, which she has kept for many years. So sweet! 

Knowing the bride’s sentimental nature, Cat from Woods & Bloom tied her bouquet with very special vintage ribbons with the idea that Dythea could make a cushion or other keepsake from them. 

Boho bride, Dythea, and her bridesmaids were prettied up by Allure Bridal Stylists on makeup, and Coastal Style Mobile Hairdressing on hair. 

The couple travelled in style to the famous One Tree Hill in Maleny in this amazing turquoise kombi from Old Skool Kombis.
