Samantha loves Jesse |Countryside Yandina Wedding

For their Yandina wedding, Samantha and Jesse invited an intimate group of just 30 guests and spent a modest budget of $15,000 on what they call the perfect day they dreamt of.

Bride, Samantha, said, “I wouldn’t want to change anything about my wedding. I married the man of my dreams witnessed by close friends and family.”

Samantha kindly shared some more details from her Yandina wedding at countryside venue, The Rocks…

Sweet Simplicity

“We wanted our wedding to be about us and our love. Our wedding was everything we loved and wanted and the people who came were so important to us. We didn’t want a big fancy wedding but something simple and lovely”

Venue Perfection

“The Sunshine Coast is where we live and our venue The Rocks was so beautiful and ticked all our boxes plus more for everything we wanted in our wedding venue. The Rocks staff were amazing, there was always somebody around doing something and the whole day ran so smoothly because there new what they were doing.”

The Proposal

“Jesse took me to a very romantic dinner at The Long Apron, Spicers Clovelly Estate. Opening the menu folder Jesse had arranged for a card saying “will you marry me” to be on the first page of the menu. He got up from his seat and came and got onto one knee. It was so romantic.”

“We found our suppliers at the Sunshine Coast Bridal Showcase, in the Sunshine Coast Brides’ Tribe Facebook group and Google.”

“My flowers we were so beautiful, I have dried them and they are sitting on my dining table still.”

“For our next adventure we would love to travel more and renovate our house.”

Biggest splurge: My wedding car 1948 F1 Ford Pick Up. These are beautiful cars so to find one for my wedding was very special.

Best money-savers: Mum made the top tear of my wedding cake and my sisters are hairdressers so they did our hair for the day.

Abigail loves Li | Flaxton Gardens Hinterland Wedding

From their home in Shibuya, Tokyo, Abigail and Li planned a Sunshine Coast hinterland wedding at Flaxton Gardens with gorgeous glam style. The bride was originally a Sunshine Coast local from Caloundra, but now resides in Tokyo with her love, Li.

Love in Tokyo

“We met while I was exchanging at a university in Tokyo and although we were just friends in the beginning, he was my home away from home. He is my biggest comfort and support and that is why I fell in love with him and also why I knew I had to marry him.”

Wedding Party Style

“We wanted to give everyone in the bridal party their own individualality. Make everyone standout but also complement one another. I wanted the look to be less structured and more like a beautiful mess.”

The Proposal

“Li took me to a beautiful French restaurant located inside the Tokyo Skytree, that overlooked all of Tokyo. Then, when we walked outside, he proposed under our umbrella with the lit-up tower hovering over us.”

Most Emotional Moment

“When my pastor acknowledged the people who couldn’t be there for our wedding. He mentioned my dad, who passed away four years ago. It was very emotional for me as my dad was a huge supporter for me to study/ live in Japan and he would have loved Li.”

Best (Man) Decision Ever

“Li said the one thing he wouldn’t change for the world was having his dad as his best man. His original best man got his passport stolen while getting to Australia, so his dad stepped up. Even though Li’s dad didn’t know any English, he did such an amazing job and delivered an incredible, heartfelt speech.”

Abigail + Li’s Next Big Adventure

“Once Li graduates from University in Tokyo we want to settle down in Australia. We are hoping to move his parents from China too and all live together!”

Emily loves Chris | Country Luxe Wedding Theme

After a chance meeting outside their local Woolworths here on the Sunshine Coast, Emily and Chris connected on social media. Soon after they had their first date, and the rest, as they say, is history. The local couple planned a Country Luxe wedding in Yandina. They made the day all about family with Emily even choosing her brother, Luke, to be her Man of Honour.

Getting Started with Planning

“Initially I spent a lot of the time scrolling through social media for inspiration. Once we had selected our style I used The Bride’s Tree (for inspiration), it was the only blog I used throughout the planning process. It had a really good selection of real weddings and vendors that suited us and our style.

“We really wanted to ensure that our wedding was a good representation of us as a couple. We chose a venue that was close to our home, hired vendors that suited our style and incorporated details such as our favourite cake flavours and personalised wedding favours.”

Wedding Day Highlight

The very best thing about the wedding was the ceremony. Kath Tilly created a very personal ceremony for us. It was a great representation of who we are as a couple. There is no better feeling then walking down the aisle to the man of your dreams in front of all your closest family and friends. Involving our families in the planning process and incorporating them into the ceremony was a highlight on our wedding day.

Family comes first

“Our families played a big part in the planning stages. They were all very keen to visit the venue and come to meetings with vendors in the years and months leading up to the wedding. I think their excitement and enthusiasm was such a special part of the planning process. Not only did they support us, they helped with decisions regarding dresses, suits, flowers, food, invitations and much more.

“During the day we were able to incorporate family into the bridal party and ceremony. My bridal party was made up of my siblings and niece, which was something very important to me.

“The ceremony also centred around both families. My mum walked down the aisle with my man of honour, Luke, we asked our mums to witness our marriage and we also asked our dads and uncles to let off some rose petal cannons when we were pronounced husband and wife.”

Gifts for the Bridal Party

“For my bridal party, I bought the girls Mimco jewellery for the wedding day. I also bought my man of honour perfume and a wallet. Chris bought all of the guys their favourite bottle of spirits.”

Music

“We hired, Sally Skelton to play during the reception. She is an amazing singer who recently appeared on The Voice Australia. She played an acoustic set from the start of the reception till the speeches.”

“Our main focus has always been about being a team. We have always focused on being great friends and supporting each other through every endeavour.”

Wedding Secrets

Biggest splurge: “Our biggest splurge was on photography and videography. We hired a photographer, videographer and photobooth to ensure we captured every moment of our wedding day.”

Best money-saver: “We 4saved a lot of money by using a private jeweller. We were able to still receive great quality rings that didn’t have the retailer mark up.”

Ella loves Eric | Wedding at The Lakehouse Sunshine Coast

Ella says her favourite part of her wedding day was when her now husband, Eric, recited his vows. She says Eric’s beautiful nature, giving soul and his quirks are the main reasons why she married him. Apparently Eric is cultured and a wonderful life teacher, and the man certainly knows how to wear his heart on his sleeve, as you will see from their wedding film below!

The couple were married atThe Lakehouse – Sunshine Coast with 90-odd family and friends gathered to witness. They chose to have their ceremony and reception in the one place so their guests could relax throughout the afternoon. Cloud Nine Weddings made their ceremony on the lake look absolutely divine with gorgeous florals by Magnolia Grove featuring impressive King Protea and a sweet touch of blue thistle, which brought out the colour of the beautiful bride’s eyes.

The Proposal

We went to Melbourne for my 29th birthday, it was freezing cold and rainy, but we ventured out into the rain to find to a nice fancy restaurant for my birthday dinner. We had finished dinner and went walking. We found a nice photo spot and Eric insisted I stand up on this big rock to get the prime photo, which I struggled to get up onto after it being raining and slippery! After fixing myself and readying for the photo I turned around – Eric had a little box out and asked me to marry him!

Biggest splurge: Our videographer – I wanted the best and certainly got that with BXCSMXTH. It’s something we can look back on and show our children in the future.

Best money-saver: Making our own bonbonniere for each guest (succulents).

DIY: A home made arbour for behind the bridal table! My huband and the groomsmen did an amazing job, plus I did a few knick knacks for the reception. Photo frames, favours, and little keepsake mementos for us to look back on.
