Suits Direct have been long-established as the place to go on the Sunshine Coast if you’re looking to don your groom in a stylish get-up for your wedding day. They offer both purchase and hire options, and they have suits and accessories of every kind and style.

If you’re looking for something relaxed and coastal – they’ve got it. If you’re wanting a super cool unique look complete with bow tie – they’ve got it. If you’d like to take advantage of the formal occasion by going all out with a tuxedo or morning suit – they’ve got it.

Now it’s easier than ever to have your suit fitting, as the team will come to you with a carefully curated selection for your fella to try on in the comfort of your own home.

How It Works

Covid has been a real killer for some of our beloved local businesses, and this has meant some changes had to be made. For Suits Direct, this meant moving their entire showroom to become a home-based business. Not only this, they saw an opportunity to offer a super personalised service by bringing suits to you!

When you book your appointment (scroll for info), you’ll need to provide your height, pant size, shirt size, and if you know it, your jacket size. The team will ask you about what kind of style you’re going for and select some dapper threads to bring along for you to try. You can even have all your groomsmen there together to get everyone sorted in one completely painless shopping effort.

Once you’ve chosen your suit, the team will measure you up and arrange any alterations and orders, so you’ll have the perfect fit for your wedding day.

Check out just a few suit styles Suits Direct can help you with, and find out how to book your appointment below…

Planning the perfect Sunshine Coast hinterland wedding is all about the little details. Each element being carefully curated to consider location, style, colour palette and personal touches.

The Flowers

The bride carries an unpretentious bouquet with ample lush greenery and fresh white blooms. Touches of yellow and blue thistles match in with the groom’s button hole, continuing through to the reception centrepieces. Hung from the exposed beams in The Old Dairy dining room are chandeliers draped in greenery, making for a spectacular installation. All of these crafted in a crafty fashion by Poppy Lane Flowers by Design

The Styling

Maple Weddings and Events is the creative force behind the ceremony and reception styling. The crisp white base is layered with deep blue and gold details, and glass crystalware to give the table that extra romantic sheen.

The Location

With a backdrop of rolling hills of the Sunshine Coast hinterland, The Old Dairy is located in Maleny, where romance is guaranteed. An animal-friendly location with onsite cottages, complete with bridal suite and man cave.

Australian YouTuber and Instagram influencer, Skye Wheatley, donned a custom-designed bridal gown by Sunshine Coast designer, Marilyn Crystelle Bridal and picnicked with her handsome beau, Lachlan, and some other good-looking characters.

Photographer Charlotte Marshall of Forever in This Moment Photography was the mastermind behind taking Skye and Lachlan for a lovers picnic at Qcamel Farm.

Charlotte said, “I wanted to create some unique styled shoots just to shake things up a little bit. I want my brides to dream a little, step outside the box and pin from their own love story rather than the internet.”

The residents of Qcamel Farm were kind enough to don their glad rags especially for the occasion.

A stunning location in the Sunshine Coast hinterland on the lake, pretty pastels with a pop of bright pink florals, a dreamy dress and hair and makeup perfection. This and more is to be expected when you inevitably scroll down. I know you won’t be able to help yourself. Who could in the face of beauty such as this?

When Adore Photography got in cahoots with some of the Sunshine Coast’s best wedding professionals, a little bit of magic happened.

Styling genius was executed in this outdoor reception table, including the creative and pretty touch of peaches as a centrepiece. Also loving on the ribbon laid atop the hessian runner

Sarah from Twig & Blossom put together two pretty posies, and even included a couple of blooms from her own garden. That magical pop of colour in the bride’s bouquet… Bee-yoo-tiful!

Love, love, loving the bride’s cake/groom’s cake trend. Really – why compromise when it comes to cake – have all the cakes!

Classic bridal chignon upstyle with volume for the bride, and a sweet side-swept style with on-trend braiding for the bridesmaid. Gorgeous work from Hair By Nicola.

Perfectly plump pink lips are gorgeous with this glam wedding makeup design by Danella at I Do Makeup Artistry

Fresh and pretty, this one-of-a-kind bridal gown was designed by local couture designer, Judy Copley Bridal

There is nothing I don’t love about this retro-inspired blue-grey suit from Suits Direct, finished perfectly with a pink bow tie and bouttoniere.

Today we have a guest blog post from the lovely Tammy Fox Suits Direct, Mooloolaba. As the owner of Suits Direct, Tammy is abreast of all the latest trends for groom and groomsmen fashion, and here she answers some pressing questions about picking a suit and accessory trends for men.

What are the most important things to consider when picking out a suit?

When you are choosing a wedding suit there are several key factors to consider. I believe the first one is the overall style and colour theme of the wedding. The wedding theme should be reflected throughout the wedding party so whether you are having church, beach, vintage, garden or rockabilly styled wedding the attire should fit the style.

The next thing is get the correct fit for your special day! To look your best a proper fitting is an essential part of getting the correct suit size and fit. This is where a professional can assist you and will ensure the journey of selecting a suit is a pleasant one. An appointment with a professional can take the stress out of choosing the right suit and will give you loads of free advice with regard to styling and fitting.

An important thing to remember with styling is to ensure you feel very comfortable with what you are wearing this will ensure you feel confident.

What are the latest trends?

THE LOOK: The latest trends are 2 button slimfit suits, the jacket is tapered at the waist and the trouser is slim line to keep the balance and overall look. These suits can be extremely complimentary to those who have a slim to average physic. However staying with trends doesn’t work for everyone, body type should dictate if you should choose a regular or slimfit suit.

TRENDS IN TIES: Long ties are slimmer and bow ties are patterned and bold.

Is black the only option when it comes to suits for weddings?

Black is not the only option there are many other choices for wedding suits. However, black is still a very popular colour for weddings, there are so many positives about black, it’s striking, goes with any colour, looks amazing on most people and never dates as long as the style is current.

What other colours are there to choose from?

Charcoal has a huge following where wedding parties are concerned. The greys are elegant and soft but rich enough to make a statement in any wedding party. Country Vintage styling has been very popular with many requests for light coloured suits including beige and light grey. We are seeing requests for a slowly emerging sophisticated navy suit which I believe will become popular for weddings again.

Are bow-ties or ties more popular for weddings?

Long ties are still the most popular tie for weddings, whether it’s the traditional wide tie for the sophisticated look or the slimmer long tie for those who like to keep on trend. Bow ties are still popular but are more suited to black tie weddings of which there are fewer here on the Sunshine Coast.

What can the groom do to stand out?

The groom can wear a different coloured tie and hanky usually the same colour as the bride to unite them and keep a streamlined look. He could also have a flower while the groomsmen go without. A vest is a popular way to distinguish the groom from his groomsmen or vice versa.

The other styling option given to grooms who really want to stand out from their groomsmen is to have a different coloured suit. We have recently styled weddings where the groom will wear a charcoal with black satin trim jacket with the groomsmen in light grey with black satin trim jacket ensuring the suit style itself remains the same.

Finally, it’s really important that the bride and groom have input into the styling of their very important day but also be assisted and guided by professionals who can give them ideas and create the special day they so look forward to it.

Suits Direct is on Brisbane Road, Mooloolaba, and offers a wide range of suits for hire and purchase.
