Lavender and Old Lace Styled Shoot

10th April 2013

The inspiration for this styled bridal photo shoot in Peachester is the beautiful, blooming Jacaranda Tree. Popular for its prettiness of lavender leaves littering the ground below, the Jacaranda Tree at this Peachester wedding venue, Mango Hill Farm, has attracted many a bride to its canopy.  This shoot actually featured in Volume 4 of The Bride’s Tree free online magazine, however we couldn’t fit in all of the gorgeous images by Marion Jonkers Photography that we would have liked to. So we are sharing them with you now, my pretties! We are not a selfish mob, we would not keep such splendour to…

Flowery Speech

9th April 2013

Some brides pick their flowers by colours, others by scent, but if you’re a poet at heart, choose your flowers by meaning. Build your bouquets and centrepieces into a love letter to your fiance, your friends and family. The universal symbol for romance is a red rose, but in actuality, they symbolise passion, along with carnations, coral roses and tulips, according to our blog contributor today, Simply Bridal. So many pretty flowers, so much to learn!  The beautiful bouquet in the thumbnail image above is by Sunshine Coast wedding florist, Twig & Blossom.

Spotlight on a Supplier: Cut a Rug DJ

8th April 2013

Aaron Duncan is a family man, a musical encyclopedia, a super cool guy and an awesome DJ. And not your average DJ, we have discovered. Some things we love about Aaron, or as he is more commonly known as Cut a Rug DJ, is that he has style, oodles of experience (17 years of DJing, in fact!), and he’s eco-conscious. Aaron will fine tune your musical selections to suit your occasion, be it all the latest funky tunes for in fact cutting a rug, or the smooth stylings of the best jazz and blues crooners for your elegant vintage…

The Prettiest of Maleny Wedding Days

7th April 2013

Heath broke the golden rule. It’s an honour code amongst mates – do not date your mate’s sister. Actually, Heath and Emily were great friends and joined at the hip, even before they started dating, so Emily’s big brother didn’t seem to mind too much.  Seven is the lucky number for this pretty pair – they were dating for seven months before Heath popped the question, and then they spent a further seven months planning their Maleny wedding. Well… Emily planned the wedding, anyway. Heath was more than happy to hand over the reigns, so the theme was left up…

Photo of the Week

5th April 2013

Orange florals! Love them. LOVE them. They are fresh, they are funky, they go beautifully with these tangerine-coloured bridesmaid dresses. I adore how the bouquet by Sunshine Coast florist, Willow Bud, is very much a structured posy with traditional roses, but also with a wildflower feel. Just gorgeous!  The photo itself is also obviously stunningly gorgeous, which is why it is our photo of the week by Sunshine Coast photographer, A Look Photography.

DIY a Fabulous Photo Booth

4th April 2013

You probably remember our gorgeous and clever bride, Taryn, whose amazing vintage DIY wedding we blogged a few weeks back. Well, she also happened to put together her own photo booth props, and the results were hilarious! Taryn, her husband, Ben, and their family and friends sure know how to have a good time!  It will be actually quite simple and cheap to DIY your own photo booth props for your Sunshine Coast wedding. Here’s how Taryn went about it.  Taryn first tackled her old dress up box, found stashed at her Mum and Dad’s, then hounded her brothers and…

Beduoin Marquee Wedding in Mooloolah Valley

3rd April 2013

Sarah and Flynn met while studying together at the University of Queensland. They found themselves enrolled in a tutorial together. And only each other. They were literally the only two people enrolled in the class. If that’s not a conversation starter, I don’t know what is.  Their beduoin marquee wedding was held in perfect seclusion on a private property in the Mooloolah Valley in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. It was a relaxed, no fuss affair with 80 of the couple’s family and friends and their gorgeous little baby.  Enjoy these stunning images below by talented Sunshine Coast wedding phtoographer, Bonnie…
