Darling Style for Your Big Day

A Darling Affair Sunshine Coast Wedding Festival 5

Over at A Darling Affair, we adore all things wedding-related. What’s not to love about beautiful gowns, whimsical flowers and radiant makeup, right? So we thought we would ask some of our friends, who also happen to be wedding experts which looks they’re loving right now. Here we share some of their favourite ideas for a romantic, contemporary wedding with a soft, simple vibe that allows natural beauty to shine through on your Big Day.

The Dress

First thing’s first: The Bride. Khesanh Brock from The Beauty Case tells us all about her fave picks for an effortless look. She explains that the key to an awesome dress is simplicity with just the right amount of wow thrown in for good measure.

“I’m loving the Mimosa dress by Georgia Young Couture right now, because we don’t often get to see sleeves in the Sunshine Coast climate. With all the lace and sheer panelling, brides can enjoy the weather and have a fantastic, fashionable dress,” says Khesanh.

“But then I also can’t go past the Hibiscus dress, also by Georgia Young Couture, because I would love to feel this stylish and casual at my tropical wedding. This simple, but classic, cami top is paired with an immaculate floating ruffles skirt, that gives it some sass.”

Hair and Makeup

And to complete the look?

“My preference is always for the romantic look when it comes to hair and makeup” says Khesanh, “And to show off that natural beauty, I do love a soft bronzed smokey eye. Killer earrings also help, like these ones from none other than Sportsgirl. You can find bridal accessories anywhere these days!”

The Flowers

When it comes to choosing a colour scheme, nothing says romance like the vintage palette of soft rose, pale green and ivory. But this classic combo is anything but boring when in the hands of a skilful florist, such as Natashia Evans from Heavenly Blooms

“My top tip for creating beautiful, natural-looking flowers is to embrace the season. All that surrounds us in an inspiration.”

Styling

Anna Pugh, wedding planner and stylist extraordinaire, from Made to Match Events, has an eye for details and is all about cohesion. So to successfully pull of our pretty, subtle look, Anna advises, “To firstly think of your surroundings in the space where you’re trying to create the look. I’m a lover of blank canvases, like white walls, which is extremely important against these soft pink tones. It gives that modern crisp look, but not too harsh.

“Layers of gathered soft pink tulle add texture and softness. I love using fabric to keep it light and flowy.

“The flowers are the key to bringing this look together. The various shades of pastel pinks in abundance, and having them trailing to the floor gives that luxe, pretty garden look.

“To achieve this look keep it simple, otherwise it can look messy. Work with shades of the same colour, and don’t be scared to play with textures, such as fabric.”
