Spotlight on a Supplier: Tasleema Nigh Makeup

Today our Spotlight is on Tasleema Nigh – Makeup Artist, who has been working in the beauty industry in fashion shows, music videos, television and on photo shoots for upwards of 15 years. This wealth of experience is a great asset to the Sunshine Coast wedding industry, as now our Tasleema works largely with Sunshine Coast brides, ensuring they have an absolutely beautiful experience with her on their wedding day morning.

Of course we had to know more about Miss Tasleema, as we just had to find out what makes this talented lady with such an interesting career tick. So we grilled her about exactly that, and learnt a lot more as Tasleema was kind enough to share some of her best advice to brides and even her all-time fave beauty product. Eep!

What is something very special to you in your life?

Family, eating healthy and exercise – yoga is my favourite!

How do you spend your down time?

I spend it with my partner and our ‘baby’, Olive, who is our adopted Jack Russell terrier from the Sippy Creek Animal Refuge.  We cannot imagine how anyone gave her up as she’s such a sweet dog, who is now officially spoilt.

What made you want to be a wedding makeup artist?

Having been working in makeup for over 15 years in so many jobs including photo shoots, fashion shows, TV commercials and music videos my true passion in makeup is weddings.  Weddings are such an important day for my brides and their families, everyone is in high spirits, plus it’s a real honour to catch a glimpse into people’s lives.  I love seeing people transform with an application of makeup. I can make someone feel like a million dollars, even if it’s just for one day.

What is your fave beauty product?

If I had to choose just one product it would be my Laura Mercier primer.  It’s my fail-safe base for makeup applications when the makeup needs to last all day.

What do you love about your job?

I love the variety – one day I’ll be working in Maleny, the next in Noosa in some of the most amazing locations and venues on the Sunshine Coast.  Plus, I get to spend the day with great women who put trust in me to make them look beautiful on one of the most important day of their lives.

What pieces of advice would you give a bride looking for a wedding day makeup artist?

Find a makeup artist whose makeup style you love!  Think about how you hope to look on your wedding day, do they have portfolio pictures that demonstrate they can create the style you’re after?  My top tip would be to start a Pinterest page and pin your favourite looks to show your makeup artist at your trial. We’re very visual people, plus I love working from pictures so I know exactly what style you’re after.

What is your fave bridal makeup look?

I love all styles of makeup from natural to glamourous – but I really love soft romantic looks.

Who inspires you and why?

The brides I get to work with and the amazingly talented wedding vendors on the Sunshine Coast.  Having worked elsewhere, the friendliness and community attitude of the people here is so inspiring.  It makes me want to keep doing what I do!

What is your best piece of advice to brides planning their Sunshine Coast wedding?

Be sure to look after your skin and avoid heavy spray tans before the wedding day, especially on your face.
