Venue Review: Michel Chalets

Michel Chalets is one of those places we have happened upon in our travels as explorers of all things “wedding” on the Sunshine Coast, where we find ourselves saying, “Wow, we are so amazed this even exists here!” It’s a discovery we have genuinely delighted in, as it has everything you could hope to find in a wedding venue.

Firstly, it’s located up in the beautiful Sunshine Coast hinterland, which is a truly romantic place to be married. Secondly, the Chalets has accommodation, several gorgeous ceremony settings to choose from, countless spots for pretty bridal party photo opportunities, and catering in the alfresco-style pavilion, which has the comforts of the indoors, but is laid out in such a way that it brings the outdoors in, as it is surrounded by luscious trees with a fantastic view of the grounds.

The best thing about Michel Chalets is owner/manager Melita, and her wonderful team. Being run completely by family members, the care taken in ensuring every single wedding is cared for in such a personal manner is their highest priority. For one thing, they promise only one wedding will be held at the Chalets in a day, ensuring the grounds are reserved for exclusive use by the bride and groom and their guests.

Ceremony settings aplenty are found at the Chalets. You have the choice of just about any spot on the property, with the most popular being the gazebo on the lake, the quite magical forest or even the amazing unique life-size chess board. As a beautiful gesture, Melita had the chess board constructed in memory of her father, who was an avid chess player. It certainly makes for a striking edition to wedding photos. Your guests are free to enjoy a game of chess, and also have full use of croquet and badminton equipment to make a real garden games party of the occasion!

Wedding packages at Michel Chalets are all-inclusive and are fully hosted and coordinated from start to finish. Catering is available for up to 100 guests for a seated dinner or almost limitless numbers for a cocktail wedding. Tableware, decorations of mismatching crystal vases and wooden chairs are included, plus there is an option to have the team organise your floral arrangements as well. Melita has really thought of everything, making the whole experience nice and easy, and also helping you to save money on the essentials, like allowing you to BYO alcohol.

The on-site accommodation includes a farmhouse, which sleeps up to 10 and offers luxury comforts, such as air conditioning and a hot tub, and the chalets are wonderfully romantic, each with their own private spa and fireplace.
