Adiya + Alex | Lakeside Engagement Shoot in Maleny

Happy couple just engaged reading in the park

This Lake Baroon, Maleny engagement shoot is like something out of a movie!

Highschool sweethearts Adiya and Alex are getting married at Tweed Coast wedding venue, Farm & Co., in September 2025 – 10 days before their 10th anniversary.

If you thought things couldn’t get any sweeter, wait till you have a scroll through their engagement photo shoot images below. It’s like an Indie Romantic Comedy movie montage where the bookish girl falls in love with the funny boy who has so much in common with her and they pour their hearts out and have cute moments reading and frolicking together that one summer by the lake.

Photographer Jacob Vinall captured these moments in time for the lovely couple, and will be their wedding photographer for the Big Day, as well. Take a scroll through their Maleny engagement shoot session below and read their story.

What was your engagement shoot experience like?

It was a wonderful experience! It was our first ever photoshoot and we were both quite nervous to be in front of the camera. Jacob made us feel very comfortable, and allowed us to just be ourselves. At one point he asked if we would be comfortable getting a bit wet and going into the water. We were up for it, but didn’t have a spare change of clothes so promised each other that we wouldn’t splash too much. Adiya got a bit carried away…

The pictures turned out better than we could’ve imagined! It is as if we have stills from our very own movie. We are so excited to work with Jacob for our wedding too, and can’t wait to see how he captures all the moments of our day.

Do you have any advice for other couples planning their engagement shoots?

Just relax and have fun! Our favourite photos are the ones where we are really interacting naturally. We would recommend forward planning a bit more than we did though. Our original photoshoot location fell through so we spent the few hours before the shoot frantically driving around Maleny and Montville looking for a good spot to take photos! Luckily we feel like we found the perfect spot, just in the nick of time!

What are you most looking forward to for your upcoming wedding?

We are really looking forward to having all our friends and family together, and getting to celebrate all the memories and moments that brought us to the point of getting married. Nearly half our guest list are from interstate or overseas, so it will be very special to have everyone in one place. We also can’t wait for the farm-to-table food that our venue specialises in!

What are you most nervous about?

There are so many horror stories out there – we definitely have to limit our scrolling in the facebook groups sometimes, otherwise we can get a bit freaked out! We are trying to accept the fact that everything might not go perfectly, and that’s okay.

Tell us about the proposal…

We have always talked about travelling the world together, and so Alex had a friend help him photoshop pictures of us all around the globe! He hung them up with fairy lights in my parents’ backyard. He organised for my family to be there to share the moment with us, and even attached the ring to our dog’s collar so she could play a role! She ran up to me when I arrived, but with all the excitement I didn’t even notice she had the ring until Alex mentioned it to me later. He did such a great job hiding the surprise – I had no idea it was coming – so much so that I turned up in socks and sandals!

Why do you want to marry each other?

I want to marry Alex because he is the kindest and most compassionate person I know, in addition to being so much fun and my best friend. I feel so lucky to have lived through so many life stages with him by my side already, and I can’t wait for more. – ADIYA

I want to marry Adiya because she has been my biggest support for the last 9 years. She believes in me and makes me a better person. She is incredibly intelligent, beautiful, thoughtful, and I’m really impressed with the amount of tennis matches she’s watched me play – that’s true love. I’m so proud of everything that we have achieved together, through thick and thin, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her. – ALEX
