Lavender Bouquet Trend

18th December 2013

Ranunculus, astilbe, hyacinth, sweet peas, tulips, anenomes, andromeda, roses and Dusty Miller make up this intoxicating concoction of springtime lavender goodness I just can’t get enough of. This is the very picture of the latest trend in wedding flowers – unstructured bouquet arrangement of pretty complementary pastels with deep colours and a touch of white in a big, beautiful rose of perfection. Hallelujah! Thank you, Willow Bud, for this feast my eyes will be sustained by for quite some time.  //// Images by Artography

Lest we forget

11th November 2013

It is 11:00am. It is Rememberance Day here in Australia. So we are taking a moment to remember our fallen heroes and those who live with the mental and physical scars remaining with them today from their time fighting for our country.  The symbol of our ANZACS is the red poppy. While I couldn’t find any red poppies in bridal bouquets, I thought I would still share these symbolic flowers with you in these bouquets. No matter which day of the year you are marrying, why not consider including a poppy or two in your bouquet as a symbol of…

What a Darling Affair!

27th August 2013

Recently we attended A Darling Affair‘s wedding fair at The Woombye Chapel. It was a gorgeous sunny day on the Sunshine Coast, which, just quietly, we are quite accustomed to in these parts of late. It was yet another spectacular winter’s day, and brides and grooms from all over took a lovely Sunday drive to be with us at the cutest location, perfect for the vintage and handmade affair.  Many thanks to the lovely Deb from Boots Photography, who took these beautiful photos for us at the fair to share with you all a little bit of loveliness from the…

The Giving and Receiving

19th June 2013

Guest blog post by Carrie from A Darling Affair. Each month the ladies will showcase specialties from their “Darling” vendors. This months theme is: flowers! Flowers are one of our all time favourite things to do with getting married here at A Darling Affair. I was able to have a real sentimental attachment to my own bouquet as I made it myself and had foliage from my Grandmother’s garden in it. I used to dream about the day I would get married as a little girl and make little bouquets. That dream came true for me. I also had the opportunity to make…

Lavender and Old Lace Styled Shoot

10th April 2013

The inspiration for this styled bridal photo shoot in Peachester is the beautiful, blooming Jacaranda Tree. Popular for its prettiness of lavender leaves littering the ground below, the Jacaranda Tree at this Peachester wedding venue, Mango Hill Farm, has attracted many a bride to its canopy.  This shoot actually featured in Volume 4 of The Bride’s Tree free online magazine, however we couldn’t fit in all of the gorgeous images by Marion Jonkers Photography that we would have liked to. So we are sharing them with you now, my pretties! We are not a selfish mob, we would not keep such splendour to…

Photo of the Week

5th April 2013

Orange florals! Love them. LOVE them. They are fresh, they are funky, they go beautifully with these tangerine-coloured bridesmaid dresses. I adore how the bouquet by Sunshine Coast florist, Willow Bud, is very much a structured posy with traditional roses, but also with a wildflower feel. Just gorgeous!  The photo itself is also obviously stunningly gorgeous, which is why it is our photo of the week by Sunshine Coast photographer, A Look Photography.
